todou changed overnight

Sometime within the last 24 hours the Chinese video site todou.com got a makeover.

There are now larger and more invasive full screen ads, and tons of bandwidth. Last night and some time this morning the best I could get was ~25KBPS, today the entire video loads in a matter of minutes, video download helper is pulling it in at ~125, a full 5x faster.

oddly enough I'm watching Star Trek Voyager in flash in firefox in virtualbox in blackbox in mint5.

linux flash WTF!

For some reason the adobe flash plugin for firefox uses excessive cpu. the same flash videos played in vlc/totem use a fraction of the cpu the official plugin does.

watching youtube in virtualbox is actually superior to running it in native firefox.
